Abstract
This paper presents a unique methodology for applying Numerical Optimization, design of Experiments and Response Surface Model Techniques in conjunction with Finite Element and Boundary Element Models to solve acoustic radiation and transmission optimization problems. Implementations of numerical optimization algorithms, and the finite and boundary element methods along with global design sensitivities are presented. Finally two applications from the automotive industry demonstrate the methodology.
